Ginkgo Dream captures in patina the remnants of six leaves from a local ginkgo tree. Sanford placed these fan-shaped leaves on the copper at different angles, and dedicated a square to the background of each. The two orderly rows give this piece a nod to old classroom science charts, and celebrate the wonders of the gingko tree.
To float this work an inch and a half out from the wall, Sanford folded in the sides, giving the metal a convex curve. The deep-hued blue patinas of Ginkgo Dream also continue through to the edges.
