At 93 years old, Hal Broyles has perfected his craft, using oil pastels and pencil to create abstract drawings on paper. Lines and expressionistic forms Hal keeps to a minimum, which allows their vibrant colors to interact with the white of the paper. Muse for his work is most often drawn from memories, and always includes a touch of red for his wife Charlotte. Hal and Charlotte live in Tullahoma, Tennessee where Hal spent more than 30 years as a technical illustrator for the U.S. Air Force. Middle Tennessee State University's very first Bachelors of Fine Arts degree was also awarded to Hal in 1954.
